Had a brilliant session at RWS - ended up going there instead of Hythe in the end as I didn't fancy sailing on my tod. Had a great time anyway - arrived at 2:30 just as the wind was starting to build and the rain had passed through. The sun was out and I'm not sure if it was a thermal top-up, but it blew much more than expected. The anenometer was reading gusts of 30mph later in the afternoon (although that seems a bit high). Rigged a 7.0 to start, as the wind didn't seem that strong, but after a couple of runs I was stacked, and so changed down to 5.7, which was also a handful in the gusts. I downhauled the hell out of it though, and it was fine. I had some insanely fast downwind blasts - the fastest I've yet experienced by quite a margin. Felt pretty dangerous and out of control, but such a grin. For most of the session I was actually the only one out (so much for finding some company!), but you can't exactly get into much bother at RWS on a sunny day! So glad I took the afternoon off...!!
